The Philadelphia Story (1940)
“We had the best of times, and I think it was because we all thought we were trying to create some kind of magic and joy. And you know, that’s what you do [onscreen]. You dance love, and you dance joy, and you dance dreams. And I know if I can make you smile by jumping over a couple of couches, or running through a rainstorm, then I’ll be very glad to be a song and dance man; and I won’t worry anymore that the Pittsburg Pirates lost a hell of a shortstop.”
You have to dream, you have to have a vision, and you have to set a goal for yourself that might even scare you a little because sometimes that seems far beyond your reach. Then I think you have to develop a kind of resistance to rejection, and to the disappointments that are sure to come your way.
Princess Cary Grant captured in an extremely candid and private moment of harp-playing. Princess Cary Grant revealed in an exclusive 1948 interview that he plays the harp because “shit have you ever even heard a harp it’s hella beautiful.” (Disclaimer: Princess Cary Grant is not a model and had no idea the photograph was being taken.)
Happy 100th Birthday, Gene Kelly (August 23, 1912 - February 2, 1996)
“At 14, I discovered girls. At that time, dancing was the only way you could put your arm around the girl. Dancing was courtship. Only later did I discover that you dance joy. You dance love. You dance dreams.”
